Curriculum Overview
Our curriculum mirrors both the rigor and the humanity of modern dentistry. Through self-paced modules, learners explore:
- Foundations of Dental Assisting: Understanding the anatomy, ethics, and artistry that shape clinical care.
- The Language of Dentistry: Building fluency in terminology and patient communication — the vocabulary of trust.
- The Tools of the Trade: Training in sterilization, instrumentation, and procedural setup that translates directly to patient care.
- The Human Dimension: Case studies on trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and equitable practice that redefine what it means to serve.
Each module was written, reviewed, and refined by aspiring dental professionals and mentors who know firsthand what it means to learn without access — but with purpose.
Our Impact
Since its founding, ABAD has empowered students from marginalized communities to enter clinics, volunteer programs, and dental research with confidence.
Now, the Virtual Dental Assisting Academy extends that mission globally — bringing the classroom to those who were told they didn’t belong in one.
Through Teachable, we’ve transformed a university initiative into an accessible, international platform — turning curiosity into certification, and mentorship into mobility.
What is it not? →
This isn’t just education.
What do we see? →
We see a future where dentistry is not defined by exclusion, but by empowerment —
where every clinic becomes a place of cultural competence and compassion,
and where the next generation of dental leaders reflects the communities they serve.
So what is this?
It’s reparation through representation.
It’s dentistry — rebuilt from the roots up.
